Chinese gold production up by 21.35% in March MOM

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 13 Jun 13 – According to the statistics published by Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, gold production in March 2013 was 32.785t, up by 10.01% year-on-year and up by 21.35% month-on-month.
In the first quarter of 2013, the gold production in China was 89.907t in total, up by 11.26% year-on-year. There was 74.749t of gold produced from gold mine, up by 11.41%; there was 15.159t produced from nonferrous metals mines, up by 10.54% year-on-year.
According to the statistics published by China Gold Association, in the first quarter of 2013, gold consumption in China was 320.54t, and increased by 65.34t, up by 25.6% year-on-year. Gold jewelry consumption was 178.59t, up by 16.3% year-on-year; gold bar consumption was 120.39t, up by 48.8% year-on-year; gold coin consumption was 4.03t, up by 137.1% year-on-year; industrial gold consumption was 13.49t, down by 5.1% year-on-year; other gold consumption was 4.04t, down by 16.4% year-on-year.

Wedding celebration boosts the demand for gold jewelry and the traditional holiday pulls gold bar and gold coin consumption.
